Date: 3rd Aug, 2015 A CME on Abdominal Imaging was organised by the Dept of Radiodiagnosis along with the Vellore sub-chapter of IRIA on 3rd Aug, 2015. Dr. Kedar N. Chintapalli, from the University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio, was the guest speaker. His sessions included talks on neuroendocrine tumors, carcinoma of unknown primary and deep biopsies by ultrasound, were succinct and thought provoking. Dr.Anu Eapen, Professor of Radioiagnosis, CMC Vellore, gave an informative talk on the imaging of peritoneal spaces. There were also presentations by the postgraduates. The CME which proved to be an academic feast, was awarded 5 credit points from TN Dr MGR Medical university, and was attended also by more than 100 delegates. Overseas Guest speaker Dr Aurelie Plessier Senior consultant, Department of Hepatology Hopital Beaujon, Hospital University of Paris, FranceVisiting faculty Approximately 60 attendances in the main venue at the Telemedicine lecture hall, CMC. Good interaction on topics including clinical and imaging- BCS and portal vein thrombosis. Followed by interesting case discussions. Live telecast and discussion with PGI (the PGI director and the Hepatology chief Dr Chawla, Dr Naveen Kalra etc), JIPMER, Pondicherry. 5 Credit Points of Category II
Date: 20th June 2015 Tamilnadu and Pondicherry chapter of IRIA-subchapter activity Mid – Term CME of Tamilnadu and Pondicherry state chapter of Indian Radiolgigical & Imaging Association was organized by the Vellore sub chapter on 20-06-2015, at Christian Medical College, Vellore. The theme of the Mid Term CME was ultrasound imaging of the Head and Neck. There were 168 delegates - including radiologists, ENT and Head and Neck surgeons and PG. Dr. Shyamkumar N Keshava, Head of department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, CMC Vellore, and Secretary, of Vellore Subchapter of TN & PY IRIA, welcomed the gathering to Vellore and to the Mid Term CME. Dr. Srinivasan M J, Chairman of Vellore Subchapter of TN & PY IRIA, Dr. Sridhar Gibikote, Vice Chairman of Vellore subchapter and Dr. Madan Mohan, Treasurer of Vellore Subchapter of TN & PY IRIA along with Dr. Jayaraj Govindaraj, President State chapter Dr. Amarnath, Secretary State chapter were present and actively participated in the CME. The guest speaker for the CME was Prof. Anil T. Ahuja, Chairman of the Department of Imaging & Interventional Radiology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China. He enthused the audience with his skill and experiences in ultrasound imaging of the head and neck. He also showed multiple cases and covered some of the challenging areas in imaging of the thyroid as well as other neck masses. Post graduate presentations followed the guest lectures. Twelve post graduates presented very challenging and interesting cases.
